My Story

Reflecting on my own journey at UCLA during my undergraduate years, I can vividly recall a time when uncertainty clouded my future. Coming from a background where financial insecurities prevailed, I harbored self-doubt and an ingrained fixed mindset, believing that dreams and goals were unattainable luxuries. My trajectory lacked direction, and I navigated through college without a clear vision or awareness of my destination.

 

It was during this period of personal disarray that I encountered Quetzalcoatl Kosmos, a private life coach and motivational speaker. Seeking solace and purpose, I began on a journey of learning about myself with his encouragement of believing in yourself. The pivotal moment came when I decided to relinquish my fears and insecurities, setting the stage for transformative change. This decision marked the turning point, catalyzing a cascade of newfound determination and a thirst for self-improvement.

 

Initially pursuing a pre-dental path, I encountered an academic challenge in the form of a physics class. Faced with feelings of sadness and hopelessness, I stood at a crossroads where giving up seemed imminent. However, a profound realization dawned – a decision to believe in myself and persist in the face of adversity. The journey involved seeking assistance from TA and professor office hours, staying committed to tutoring centers, and diligently working through the material. Despite receiving an initial setback with a grade of D, I found solace in the wisdom of my mentor: learning is the essence of education. Encouraged to retake the class, I not only improved my grade but developed an awe and wonder for physics that was previously inconceivable.

 

This personal anecdote underscores the essence of my passion in education – the power of persistence, self-belief, and the transformative impact of refusing to give up. Through this narrative, I aim to instill in educators and students the understanding that progress and practice are intertwined forces propelling one forward, even when the path may not align with preconceived notions of perfection.
